Canada part 1

I left Baltimore July 31st, 506 miles and ten hours later I arrive at my half way point in Waltham, Massachusetts. My route avoids I-95 through New Jersey and New York where heavy traffic and frequent toll booths make it miserable for a biker. Leaving Baltimore, I ride North through Harrisburg and Scranton in Pennsylvania, East across the Pocono’s and Connecticut on I-84 to I-90 to Waltham, just outside of Boston. We enter Canada, reset clocks to Atlantic Time Zone and cross most of New Brunswick before stopping for the night in Moncton. We get up late, take our time over a leisurely breakfast, repack the trailer and ride to Truro in Nova Scotia. We linger over lunch waiting for her parents. They arrive as planned, collect Sam and depart for Kejimkujik National Park (Keji) where they will be camping. http://www.pc.gc.ca/pn-np/ns/kejimkujik/natcul/index_E.asp
I ride South to Halifax then West to Timberlea.
Friday morning we sleep in, grab breakfast and hit the road around noon. We travel East on Hwy 3 along the beautiful south shore of Nova Scotia. Our first stop is Peggy’s Cove, an authentic old fishing village. Brightly colored houses are built where ever a spot can be found on this rugged and rocky coastline. There are some old buildings, weathered, abandoned, falling down, but still an integral part of the beauty of this place. Structures are placed helter-skelter along the road leading to the light house and an excellent nearby restaurant. Heavy fog and zero visibility obscure the bay but enhance the moment. As we circle the bay the sun finally burns off the fog and we are treated to a great picture; the fishing fleet at anchor. There are also sailboats, skiffs, yachts, lobster boats, power boats, even kayaks all resting in the mirror smooth water.
By mid-afternoon we pick up Hwy 8 for the two hour ride north to Annapolis Royal. We have reservations at the “Tulip Tree” Bed and Breakfast. http://tuliptree.ca/
